Maine in July

Well, we started this full time, Love Bus venture, six months ago in January and we have made it to the top of the east coast by July. This is quite a nice time to be in Maine with temperatures ranging from the 50’s to upper 70’s. We decided to stay up here at the Saltwater Farm Campground in Thomaston for two weeks so we can venture up to Acadia National Park as well as attend the North Atlantic Blues Festival.

When in Maine one MUST partake in a lobster roll and that we did! We drove over to the famous Red’s Eat’s “The Worlds Most Famous Lobster Shack” and met our dear friend Doug to enjoy this experience with. The line for this famous lobster roll wraps around the corner , across the train track, and along side of the Sheepscot River. Reds has been nestled in the foot of Wiscasset’s Main Street for 81 years and is known as the most famous restaurant on Route 1 in Maine. It was such a pleasure visiting with Doug and we all enjoyed the food!

There is an abundance of outdoor scenery so we made it a point to hike a different trail everyday. Maine is known as a dog friendly state, which is awesome, so we visited multiple dog parks too.

We took all the scenic routes to discover what we could. What do you know? The Hankley’s found another brewery in the picturesque little town of Camden! Ha, I think our brewery radar is extra sensitive! We enjoyed some yummy clam chowder, delicious brews and great views!

The North Atlantic Blues Festival was set up right on the water outside on a gorgeous day. We got the weekend pass so we could enjoy the music out on the lawn both Saturday and Sunday. It was a very pretty and relaxing setting.

Visiting Acadia National Park was spectacular! We did a few nice hikes there with the pups. There was a 360 view from the top of Cadillac Mountain on Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park that overlooked Frenchman Bay. Cadillac Mountain, at 1,530 feet, is the highest point along the North Atlantic seaboard. If you visit Maine anytime soon this is a MUST do!
