Fall in Blue Ridge, Georgia

Fall is the perfect time of year to be in the Blue Ridge Mountains! The colors are magnificent and the air so clean and crisp. Our campsite was called Waterside at Blueridge. Only a year and a half old, this place had a lot of charm. The sites were situated around a lake where Jeff fished every day and surrounded by fall color. There was also a little river that ran through the campsite that Oliver fell in one day on one of our walks. He was pretty chilly.

The first weekend we were in Georgia we met my cousin Kara Bourgeois at an apple festival at the Hillcrest Orchard. It was a gorgeous day of apple picking, music, hay rides and a lot of laughs! So great to catch up at the spur of the moment!

We were in this area for a month and every day while Jeff was working I would take the dogs on a different hike in the area. We seemed to find a beautiful lake on most all the hikes. Gypsy was a very happy dog!

One weekend we took the pups out for a hike at Bald River Falls National Forest. Flowing waterfalls surrounded us with cold water splashing on our skin as we trailed through the beautiful colored trees.

The Toccoa River Swinging Bridge National Forest was an awesome find! [By the way we find all of these hikes on our ALL TRAILS app.] The drive up to the swinging bridge was long and windy but once we arrived it was just a short mile hike to get to the bridge itself. Totally worth it y’all!

We would have to say that this is one of the most beautiful places we have stayed along the way and fall was the perfect time to be in this area.

Im not sure the dogs are going to want to leave…

Then we cruised on down the road to Athens Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with our son Alex and his beautiful lady Megan. Megan’s wonderful family included Jeff and I in all the Turkey Day festivities! We had such a blast and truly enjoyed all of these wonderful people!

Our last stop in Georgia was at Watson Mill Bridge state park. The bridge was built in 1885 and is the longest bridge in Georgia! We didn’t drive the LoveBus through it but we did take the pups for a walk through the bridge. That is where Oliver saw the light! Ha!
